How are Children referred?
Children can be referred by anyone (physicians, neighbors, school counselors, funeral homes, etc.), but it is the legal guardian(s) of the child who is responsible for calling and setting up the appointment.  Either the parent or professional contacts Journey of Hope and provides basic information.  A counselor contacts the family for an interview and a tour of the facility.  If the program is appropriate for the family, then family members are assigned to specific groups.

Are all children accepted into the groups?
No.  Journey of Hope is not always an appropriate intervention.  The purpose of the interview is to assess the needs of the child.  If the child requires other intervention, the counselor will refer the child to the appropriate resources.
