What kinds of activities do the children do?
Very young children spend part of
each meeting in play centers; they are encouraged to acknowledge the
reality of the death, remember their loved one and express feelings,
orally, pictorially and through play activities.
Curriculum for school age children
usually includes a story to help participants identify feelings and
situations they may have experienced since their loved one died. Hands
on activities follow the story to help children process their feelings.
Teens often have a story or reading
as well, and may engage in journaling, art, role play, interactive games
and hands on projects along with discussion of situations, issues and
feelings they are experiencing. |
